Syncing Events

Events are setup and created using Event Editor and then synced across to your Apple device(s). Before you get started creating and editing events, it makes sense to first set up syncing between your PC and your device(s).

Events can be synced one of three ways: Local Sync (when devices are on the same local network), Dropbox (the suggested method, as it allows events to be synced over the internet), Private Web Server (for advanced users that need more privacy and control).

In this Guide

Installing Event Editor

Before you start please ensure you have downloaded and installed the Event Editor, which is downloaded as part of the Windows Companion Apps.

Local Sync

Local Sync is a quick way to sync events when your PC and your Device is on the same local network (this would typically mean when at home or the office).

Steps

  • Open the Event Editor on your PC
  • Click on Local Sync...
  • Select your Event (or All Events) from the Sync List
  • Open the Camera on your Device
  • Scan the QR code in the Event Editor
  • Select "Open in Breeze Booth"

You will now see your Events begin to download to your device. Once complete, you can now select the Event that you wish to run from the Event List.

When initiating local syncing for the first time, firewall software may prompt the user to grant network access to the Event Editor. Users should select "Private networks" and then click "Allow access" to proceed.

Users have the option to continue running the local sync server while editing events. Once the settings are transferred to the Apple Device, event synchronization can be performed directly from the Events screen.

Dropbox Sync

Syncing via Dropbox is currently the suggested method of syncing events to devices. As long as devices are connected to the internet and logged in to your Dropbox Account, events can be synced.

Users must have a paid Dropbox account to utilize this feature.

Setting Up Dropbox

Ensure that Dropbox is installed on both your PC running the Event Editor, and also on the device(s) running the Breeze Booth App, you must also be signed in.

Steps

  • Open Breeze Booth on your Device and go to Settings and select "Sign into Dropbox"
  • Dropbox will open on your device. Allow the request to grant access.
  • If successful, you will be automatically returned to Breeze Booth
  • On your PC, you should now have a Breeze Booth folder in Dropbox > Apps

Syncing Existing Events

If you have existing events you have already made, or wish to keep any demo events downloaded, you first need to move your existing events folder which is typically found in Documents > Breeze Booth for iPad to Dropbox > Apps > Breeze Booth for iPad

Once you have moved the Events folder, in the Event Editor go to File > Open and then select the events.xml file in Dropbox > Apps > Breeze Booth for iPad > events

Starting Clean

If you do not have any events, or you just want to make a clean start, you can create a new events folder and start clean.

Steps

  • Create a folder called "events" in Dropbox > Apps > Breeze Booth for iPad
  • In the Event Editor go to File > new and then navigate to Dropbox > Apps Breeze Booth for iPad > events and create a file called events.xml
  • Create or import your events

Once these steps have been completed, you can then Sync your events from Breeze Booth from the Events menu > Update All Events

It is important to note that the official Dropbox app must be installed on the iPad for this process to function correctly. Uninstalling or Deleting the Dropbox or Breeze Booth folders will cause syncing to fail.

Private Web Server

If you need total control over where your data is stored and how it is synced to your devices, you can sync events from your own Private Web Server. This could be a server hosted in your office, or a commercial 3rd party server hosted externally.

Please see the guide Syncing from a Private Web Server for more details.
